What did you do: ================ Trying to type a URL that begins with 'h' or 'm' (e.g. hdfcbank.com or mail.yahoo.com). In fact, when it is seen, this issue can pretty much be simulated for every single URL if you start typing it with 'http'. What happened? ============== When I begin typing a URL that begins with 'h' or 'm', or even just begin to type 'http', Firefox auto-complete kicks in and shows a list of matching entries from the browsing history. However, it copies the full first URL string from the auto-complete results into the address bar and highlights all of it, except for the first 'w' (from www portion of the first auto-complete result URL). Now, after I type the second character ('d' in my case), it overwrites the URL that was previously copied to the address bar and highlighted, but the first character that was not highlighted (i.e. 'w') remains in place of the first character I typed (i.e. 'h'). So, if I were to type the full URL (e.g. hdfcbank.com) without looking at the address bar (as many people usually do), I would finally end up with wdfcbank.com. Note that this does not happen on a fresh install, but rather happens after a few days of usage, when the browsing history has been sufficiently populated for auto-complete to suggest results for 'h' and 'm'. Also, it happens most frequently with 'h' and 'm', but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen with other characters. I am seeing this issue from Firefox 6 days, and it is still present in Firefox 10.0.1. What should've happened? ======================== For other URLs (e.g. www.gmail.com), typing 'g' does not cause auto-complete to paste 'www.gmail.com' to the address bar. The same should have happened for URLs starting with 'h' too.
