Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Build ID: 20120312181643 Steps to reproduce: I go to the address bar, highlight all text, type the letter"h". Actual results: Firefox changes what I type, overwriting the "h", and puts "psychcentral.com/disorders/anxiety/", with a blue background. I continue typing, not knowing Firefox has changed the text, and press enter. The page I want does not appear. I look at the address bar and it has everything except the first letter I typed which was an "h". I try and cannot get Firefox to even accept an ""h" as first character. It keeps replacing the first character with "psychcentral.com/disorders/anxiety/". So I begin with a space character, then type the "h", and it works OK. Before I understood what was going on I would type what I wanted in the address bar numerous times and the wrong page kept coming up. I would meticulously and forcefully hit the letter I wanted, then press enter when through, and the wrong page would appear. Now I watch, and if Firefox changes the first character I type, replacing with whatever historical entry, I fix before hitting enter. This is a severe nuisance. Expected results: When Firefox changes text typed in the address bar it should not change any characters already typed, and only research history from what has been typed so far.

This was marked as a duplicate of 678352, and 678352 is shown as being fixed! It is not fixed. I do not type an "h" to follow with http, I just want to go to a website that begins with "h". I can't do it, until the page doesn't load a couple of times, then I have to precede with a space. I have to look at the keyboard when I type. I do not look at the screen when I type. Maybe I can't type very well? I do go pretty fast, but unfortunately must see the keyboard. The problem is, autotype fills in, replacing the first character. When I continue typing, the blue backbround autotext goes away beginning with the second character, and I have typed my entire URL, but the first character is WRONG. I don't know that unyil I hit the enter key. I may not realize this until I've done it two or three times. I like the autotext. It's a nice feature. I just don't want it to replace characters I've already typed.

I have version 11. It just came out. When I look at bug 678352 I see it says it's fixed in version 12. I'm not going to go back and forth between Firefox versions, so I'll wait until version 12 comes out as the current release and see if the bug is fixed. I will also put the duplicate status back on this thread. Thanks
