Right now, the first notification in the connection process that we send out is after we've associated. We should send a notification when we enter the ASSOCIATING state.

You mean like a "beforeconnect" event?
I was thinking "associating", since that's what the wpa_supplicant state is called. The idea is to be able to provide feedback that we have actually started the process of connecting to a network.
Ok, so it's not "about to connect" but "connecting". I thought it was an event just before connecting.
Yeah, if it comes before "connected", +1 for calling it "connecting". That's analogous to WebTelephony and other APIs.
