I'm pretty sure this is in networking somewhere. symptoms are the same as in bug 74146. commercial works fine because the commercial code knows how to deal with https://. this might also be tied up with bug 74510, in uriloader. maybe.

Netflix.com also occasionally did this to me, loading its https:// site, so I'll check the Moz builds I have at home, which are current (this only ever happened in moz)

Verified worksforme. I used yesterday's windows 2000 Mozilla build 2001-05-31-04 on both Ubid.com and netflix.com's https:// urls and both didn't spew infinite windows.
