Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Build ID: 20120312181643 Steps to reproduce: I like tabs. A lot. Actually I use tabs similarly to the way I used to use bookmarks. Every web site that I have been working with, and that I want to remember I leave a tab open. I have tabs for recipes I've looked up for upcoming dinner plans, tabs with educational videos, or PBSKids games, webcams to check the snow conditions at Bear Valley so I know if the weather is good for skiing, tabs to access Gmail, tabs with homeschooling reference materials, and many more. Actual results: When one of my children has a game in progress on PBSKids and I switch to another tab to for example buy something from Amazon it may be a while before the game gets resumed. It is disconcerting to have the background tab start playing music, or emit audible prompts while it is hidden. Expected results: Ideally background tabs could be managed somewhat like bookmarks; when restarting Mozilla after a crash tabs are restored essentially to their previous state. I'd like to be able to save off a set of tabs intentionally, and bring them back at a later time. I would also like to be able to force background tabs to stop using CPU, or at least to stop blatting out sounds.
This sounds like a dupe of bug 675539
Hello Kevin, some parts are already OK in actual Firefox versions (Panorama) and the rest should be OK after fixing bug 675539. so i mark this as an dupe.

Kevin, what you want is virtual tabs. You may look at the request bug 906076. I think that this request is rather a duplicate of the request bug 906076.
