User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0 Build ID: 20120420145725 Steps to reproduce: 1) ^D to set a bookmark on any page 2) Click the "down arrow" button on the "Folder:" horizontal axis line. 3) Click the "New Folder" button Actual results: It only gives me about 500ms or so time to write a name before it "saves" my Folder name automatically. Even if I don't type in something as a folder name, it still saves it as "New Folder". Youtube video here to see it in action: http://youtu.be/slsJXjdNc1c Expected results: It should let me type in a folder name and press enter. Notes: 1) I have tested this on other computers with FireFox and did not see the problem. I have also asked a few people on Freenode to try it out, and they do not have the problem either. I think this problem is extremely rare, and will prove difficult for others to reproduce for others. 2) I have tried the "Restart with Add-ons Disabled" option, to no avail. 3) I have noticed this in previous versions of Firefox on the same computer.
do you use some Windows tweaks like focus-follows-mouse or such?
No windows tweaks that I know, and this happens even if I keep the mouse still.
Just as a sanity check, may you try to create a new profile and see if you can reproduce there? http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing-profiles
As you might have suspected, the problem doesn't happen under a new profile. What do you recommend I do? Just start over with a new profile? Or should I dig deeper to see what might have caused it?
I'm having the same problem when trying to create a new folder. It doesn't let me change the name to a new name and firefox creates a folder "new folder". Then I have to change it manually.
I can confirm, that this problem is still existing in Version 32 of Firefox. (like comment 5) the problem is also reproduceable with a new installation/new profile.
