I ran into this in Tbird 12, but it's still happening in v. 13. It seems to be related only to my [mobile test drivers] list (which I do have a filter up for that doesn't always catch the messages before they get to my inbox). Steps to reproduce: 1) Set up filter for emails going to x list to be moved to y folder 2) When email comes into x list, email makes it to inbox (not auto moved to y folder) 3) Try to delete email or move email into folder. Error: Email message does not move. Expected behavior: For the message to be able to be deleted or moved. To fix, I've had to restart my Tbird which is okay - but not ideal. Error console screenshot attached. Example of one error in console: Warning: Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped. I am finding a similar problem in Seamonkey versions 2.12, 2.12.1 and 2.13. I'm not sure about earlier versions but think that version 2.9.1 was ok. I can't delete an email from my smpt inbox using the delete key, a mouseclick command or drag and drop. I can however use the move command to move a message from the inbox to trash or junk. There are previous bugs like this, but the most recent old filing seems to be Nov. 2004, so this is a new bug. FWIW, the clicking the button to mark a message as junk moves the message to the junk folder as expected.
I should add that my platform is Mandriva Linux 2010.0 x86 with a few upgrades including glib-2.22.5.
Unfortunately those messages in the error console are unrelated. Can both of you try TB 16 or the Seamonkey equivalent? Also, what type of account/server do you use? POP3 or IMAP4?
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:16.0) Gecko/20121007 Firefox/16.0 SeaMonkey/2.13 POP3 mail Another observation---attempting to delete an unread message marks it as read. Another bug report said that attempts to delete a message make it appear in both the trash folder and the inbox, saying it disappears and then reappears. Both of these behaviors suggest that part of the problem is incorrect handling of the folder index. A deletion doesn't make the msg actually disappear, I understand. It just makes the index declare the message invisible. Compaction is required to make it really go away. Meanwhile, the msg isn't being copied to the trash folder. Clicking on the junk icon of a msg does make it disappear from the inbox and appear in the junk folder. That's working. What's not working is the delete key, drag and drop, and menu move or delete. I tried several previous versions and found this problem in all of them back to SM 2.8.
Drag and drop and menu move works for targets other than trash. It is the trash folder that I can't move a msg to by any means. In my junk folder there are a number of old messages not marked as junk that haven't been moved to Trash. Also, it appears that six weeks ago the junk handler stopped moving messages marked as junk from the junk folder to Trash, though they should be moved to Trash after 30 days. Why would this happen unless something has made the Trash folder unwritable?
Part of this problem solved. The Trash folder (file) for the mail account of concern was somehow deleted and hasn't existed since 8/27/2012! This shouldn't happen, and Seamonkey should recreate essential files if they should ever vanish. I copied the Trash file from another folder and now the delete commands work as expected. But why would it disappear and why wouldn't Seamonkey recreate it, warn me or something?
Yes that is very strange, it should be recreated. Did both Trash and Trash.msf vanish?

FYI - I do see the problem still. It doesn't lock up my whole inbox anymore and show an error, but sometimes I have to restart my Tbird to get the filtered message to go away (either into its folder or to be deleted). Currently running 17.0.7
