RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 239455

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:12.1) Gecko/20120516 Firefox/12.1 PaleMoon/12.1 Build ID: 20120516181253 Steps to reproduce: Updating Windows filled the hard drive. Actual results: Thunderbird thought it was the right time to re-download and duplicate 12 years of emails. This happened to me more than 5 times already during the last 3-4 versions. Expected results: Do nothing I guess.
I think this happens when the popstate.dat file can't be rewritten and is truncated. On the next run all messages are considered new and redownloaded. I think this must already be filed somewhere.

aceman, I can't find a bug to dupe to. Perhaps you are thinking of bug 239455? It of course was closed, but bug 239455 comment 24 indicates there may still be a problem.

gosh this seems so silly. Shouldn't there be a free space check before that write? And is this really a bug from 2004? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=239455 ?

Certainly yes. > And is this really a bug from 2004? > https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=239455 ? Unfortunately yes. Which makes this a dupe per my next comment.
