User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1 Build ID: 20120614114901 Steps to reproduce: set up a filter to run when new msgs arrive, tag & then move matching msgs, & enabled the filter log. Actual results: when msgs come in and are moved by a filter, the filter log file shows invalid date, from & msg id info. Expected results: the date, from and msg id should be valid.
howdy y'all, tbird info = User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20120614 Thunderbird/13.0.1 a tbird user over at the mozillazine forums found a weirdness in his filter log. i finally actually read what he posted and then confirmed it happens to me, also. here's the thread ... - Thunderbird Message Filter Log Entry:date often incorrect http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2491559&p=12102923#p12102923 here's the problem ... when filters auto-run and move a msg, the filter log entry is missing info or showing invalid or incorrect info. the only error console msg that shows on running the filter and then checking the folder is this ... ***** Thu Jun 28 2012 20:29:59 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time) CH: orient failed top ***** i'm seeing that whenever i change folders, so i'm confident that it aint related. [*grin*] here's my last valid log entry from back on 2012-04-24 ... ***** Applied filter "Forums_-_Mozillazine" to message from <forums@mozillazine.org> - Topic reply notification - "TB 12 beta - emails quickly disappearing" at 2012-04-24 12:01:26 PM moved message id = 1fd6d87dad094fb0aa860c20d21ba8a8@forums.mozillazine.org to mailbox://[account-name-removed]/Inbox/Forums/Mozillazine ***** here's a msg moved by the same filter to the same location from today ... ***** Applied filter "Forums_-_Mozillazine" to message from - at 1969-12-31 6:00:00 PM moved message id = to mailbox://[account-name-removed]/Inbox/Forums/Mozillazine ***** note that the following are wrong or missing data ... - "from -" [missing all data] - "at" [wrong date] - "message id =" [missing all data] that change in the filter log happened on 2012-04-24 -- roughly when tb12 was released. i don't know when i updated to tb12, but i suspect it was that very day since the filter log shows correct date info on that day and not after that. filters that are run manually produce a correct log entry ... ***** Applied filter "Forums_-_Bugzilla@Mozilla.org" to message from bugzilla-daemon@mozilla.org - [Bug 565552] "Find in page" needs to be improved at 2012-06-28 4:40:05 PM moved message id = bug-565552-228049-JfsuOHINje@https.bugzilla.mozilla.org/ to mailbox://[account-name-removed]/Inbox/Forums/Bugzilla_Msgs ***** filters that _don't_ make a new version of the msg produce a correct log entry. i haven't tested with copy, delete, or anything else that produces a new version of the msg. as you can see, the resulting log entry is pretty dang useless. howdy y'all, i found a pair of seemingly related bugs here ... Filterlog does not show correct information about mail - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=287223 Filter log shows wrong date/time and location - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305637 both are rather old and either fixed or works-for-me. take care, lee
Same phenomenon as bug 762318. Setting dependency for ease of tracking, analysis, and search. > Bug summary: filter log shows 1969 date for moved messages How could you know that the log without From:/Subject:/Message-ID: information was for an "actually moved message by the filter rule"?
Depends on: 762318
howdy WADA, you are correct that the filter log is not showing enuf info to confirm the msg was moved. i checked the filter log before a msg came in and then watched when one arrived and was moved. the filter log then showed an entry with invalid info. bug 762318 certainly seems to describe the problem well. i managed to miss that. [*sigh ...*] should this bug be duped to that one? take care, lee
