Essentially, each toolkit in widget/src/ should have a component:
beos qa: guru@startrek.com owner: guru@startrek.com
gtk qa: mcafee@netscape.com owner: pavlov@netscape.com
mac qa: sairuh@netscape.com owner: pinkerton@netscape.com
motif qa: Roland.Mainz@informatik.med.uni-giessen.de owner:
zuperdee@penguinpowered.com
os2 qa: mozilla@us.ibm.com* owner: mkaply@us.ibm.com
photon qa: Michael.Kedl@nexwarecorp.com owner: Jerry.Kirk@Nexwarecorp.com
qt qa: linuxqa@corel.com* owner: johng@corel.com
rhapsody * this doesn't appear to be real. However, we should have:
Fizzilla qa: jrgm@netscape.com owner: pinkerton@netscape.com
windows qa: sairuh@netscape.com owner: danm@netscape.com/law@netscape.com
*this will probably be used much less often than the others, but it should
exist.
xlib qa: Roland.Mainz@informatik.med.uni-giessen.de owner:
quy@igelaus.com.au
xremote qa: dmose@mozilla.org owner: blizzard@mozilla.org
We can either use the Derivatives product, or create a Ports product (or if
someone has a better name...).
* I know linuxqa@ and mozilla@ aren't really real, but hopefully they can
select someone.
If people have better suggestions for owners or qa contacts, just jot them
down, this was a quick and arbitrary list.
Owners/QA Contacts can suggest summaries or whatever, but a general
default summary might be along the lines of: ~For bugs specific to the widget
set or porting issues. Please do not use this component if you think this
problem occurs with multiple toolkits or on multiple platforms.~

at this point i don't believe i'd be the right person as qa contact for mac and
windows. :)

I should be the owner of the photon port, I am listed on the module owners page. I would also like to add another person as owner and a new QA person.
Brian
photon: QA - Joe Bishop (joe@qnx.com) bugzilla: joe@qnx.com
Owner - Brian Edmond (briane@qnx.com) bugzilla: briane@qnx.com
Owner - Dave Inglis (dinglis@qnx.com) bugzilla: dinglis@qnx.com

Remove nonsense address: linuxqa@corel.com from CC list.
Comment 5•23 years ago
|

Added my home email address to CC list since today is my last day at Corel...
If either of you object, please comment. If this bug is never implemented then
I will probably still use the latest information from it when i need to select
Assignees and QAs for platform bugs.
openvms, assignee: colin@theblakes.com and qa: jakobus@iaf.fhg.de
footnote: beos probably needs new assignee/qa contacts
i think guru@startrek.com is now wade@ezri.org
I know benb, cls, and david.hallowell@ukuug.org build BeZilla occasionally
duncan used to be somewhat involved in BeZilla, and myron has offered a patch
recently. If this seems like a fishing expedition, it is, and I am sorry.
VYA04230@nifty.com is still providing BeZilla patches - thank you
If any of the people i just cc'd or mentioned would be interested in a default
qa/assignee role, please comment.

What's wrong with the field "Platform"? It allows things like Component
Networking, Platform BeOS. Sure, the default assignees will be wrong, but this
could be fixed in BugZilla (the software).

The main thing at issue here for me was being autocopied on OS/2 bugs.
Maybe the easiest thing is to do that. Allow people to observer a platform the
same way they can observe a component.

if this ever happens you can change mac Qa to claudius@netscape.com.

Just a note, the johng@corel.com address for Qt ownership is obsolete, please
use jcgriggs@sympatico.ca instead. The CC list seems to have been updated for
this already, so I just wanted to make sure anyone looking at the comments got
the right address (I'll just have to put up with some additional spam, I guess
8^).

The more I think about this the less I like it (and I started off not liking
it). I believe it would be used incorrectly significantly mor often than
correctly. I can see it now "Oh, I'm using a windows Mozilla build. I should
file my bug on the Windows Platform."

I would just be happy with a way to observe platforms as well as components.
I want to be autocopied on every OS/2 bug.

maybe someone should file a bug on Bugzilla for Platform watching. We're about
to get Component watching, maybe that code could be modified to watch values
from other fields

*shrug* we don't have an Xlib platform, nor do we have a Qt platform.
We really need:
Hardware (x86, ia64, sparc, alpha, ppc, 68k, ...)
Toolkit (w32, Qt, Quartz, MacOS Classic, gtk, xlib, beos, qt, ...)
Platform -- Removed/Replaced by above.
OS (unchanged)
For now, I will continue to use this bug to maintain the list of contacts
because there isn't anything easier.

i've filed bug 95255 to request Platform watching.
