Commercial build: 2001-11-26-06 win98.
I attached a jpg file and while send was in progress I cancelled send. I did see
temp files not cleaned up when you abort send. This bug still exists.
Nominating this bug so that this can get fixed. Or else we can easily fill up
the space especially when there are large attachments to the messages.

still happens on windows, thunderbird v2.

linux tbird trunk 2008051514: send created /tmp/nsemail.eml, cancel left it there; send again created no new temp file, cancel left the temp file in place; closing compose window deleted it. The temp file is not reusable for the second try (different date at least) so it's regenerated, so I suppose it should have been deleted already at cancel.
