NN4 has a button to load images on demand. I envision something like this for Java applets: browse with applets disabled (and mark the applets in the page with a broken cup icon ;-) and when I encounter a page with a necessary applet, I press a button and the applet is loaded.

Related to this, it'd be useful to have the ability to manage which sites have permission to use Java as well as JavaScript (like Moz's managers do now with cookies and images). Konqueror currently does this.
