There's been some work recently in bug 716575 and bug 746502 to unify the <meta name="viewport"> code into one common implementation, but there are still small code fragments left that should be combined together. Morphing this bug a tad, original spirit is intact. It looks like b2g will be the first client, but there's no code in the b2g pathway that's b2g-specific. It can be tested on desktop builds (that have omtc and content processes enabled).
