****Observed with 05/08 win32 trunk build***** After I checked or unchecked the checkbox of "apply to all messages" of global display charset or folder charset, selecting a msg in the folder caused a crash. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch Mail. 2. Select Edit | Preferences | Mail and Newsgroups |Message Display, change the checkbox status of "Apply default to all messages: if it's checked, uncheck on it, if not, check on it. 3. Go to inbox, selecting a message on the thread. Sometimes it crashes right after selecting a message, sometimes it crashes after selecting messages several times. 4, Select a folder, select Edit |Properties, change the checkbox status, selecting a message in the folder will cause the crash as well. This problem doesn't exist on 05/07 trunk build.

it has the same call stack of bug 79178.

i think it's a general problem with Mail today, no matter what you do ( Send page, open message, open message with gif ) Messenger crashes . It happens after you work with Mail for a while. I did change folder charset today and did " apply to all" and i didn't crash... There are several bugs on mail crashing today entered and the stack looks the same ( ## 79446, 79459, 79461)

Not exactly same, but they all crash at nsIconChannel

it is a dup of one of those bugs most probably #79178, though i was crashing when opening a very short message with no attachement
