According to kmurray@netscape.com there is no obligation to have the Infospace and Verisign LDAP directories in the preferences. Let's remove them.
Hoping this is a trivial fix, and that we can get it into 0.9.1 because we don't want to have LDAP directories pre-installed that: a) are not required contractually b) don't work (some of the hostnames aren't defined, no DN defined, etc.)

But this will impact the position of other addressbooks. May be we will hvave to change their position. Let me make sure of that
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.1 → mozilla0.9.2
Priority: -- → P3
At the moment these LDAP servers don't have positions, neither the autocompletion LDAP server entries, which I have to pick up for the addressbook LDAP servers (bug 83091). So now the Address Book picks these hardcoded servers up too. Of course, if I set a position 0 for them, they don't appear, but why can't we just completely remove them from the hardcoded mailnews preference settings? Does anybody need them somewhere in Mozilla? So at the moment it seems to be, that my bug is dependent on this, if we don't want to appear these 3 hardcoded server in the left pane of the adddress book sesssion (badly configured and showing nothing in the right pane).

We do not need these directories in mozilla. I will be deleting all 3 of them. Except we need netcenter in the commercial tree. I will be attaching a patch.

Assuming that's all of the backend to remove for all of it to disappear. r=hwaara

sr=sspitzer on the last patch. curious: for mozilla, there are no ldap addressbooks defined by default now?
er, hold on a second. by removing these (instead of setting position to 0), will that make them them show up for migrated profiles? from mailnews.js // A position of zero is a special value that indicates the directory is deleted. // These entries are provided to keep the (obsolete) Four11 directory and the // WhoWhere, Bigfoot and Switchboard directories from being migrated.
No, because description, hostname, base for these directories (unless the user has modified them) are not saved in prefs.js. And this is the case even with migrated profiles. If we do not have desciption, then they are not going to show up in the list of directories.
great, thanks for clarifying. sr=sspitzer (again)
