User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 Build ID: 20121024073032 Steps to reproduce: plugin-container freezes Firefox when back button is pressed on the logitech mouse while hovering the mouse pointer over a playing youtube video. Killing plugin-container unfreezes Firefox Windows 7 x64 Firefox 16.0.2 Flash Player 11.5.502.110 condition i found: youtube video should be not higher than 480p, it doesn't occur on HD videos Actual results: Firefox Freezes Expected results: Firefox should have not freezed
Unfortunately after further testing i've realized that even HD contend is freezing the process. Here is the list of affected youtube videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NICfGhGlTus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBopirjhbB8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg-nIAnUZwE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9qavey27Kc I think it depends on the LENGTH of the video! all of them are over 1 hour

Thanks for taking the time to report this! Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems. It does not disable plugins which are add-ons.) See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode And does this also happen with a new and empty profile? See http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile and http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing%20profiles . If you still see this problem in the new profile, please enter the address "about:support" in the address bar and attach (using the "Add an attachment" link above) the output for your original profile (not the new profile), as the "Modified Preferences" section could be interesting. Thanks for your help!

Yes, the plugin-container freezes Firefox also in safe mode
Flags: needinfo?(oomek)
After creating a new profile the problem disappeared, so i know now it's my profile's fault. But with all addons, plugins disabled it still presist. Still can't solve it. Do you have any suggestions by any chance ? I wish to keep all my settings though.
setting dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs to "1" is a temporary solution to the problem.
It's getting even weirder, Resetting my FF account didn't help at all, what does work instead is LOGGING OUT of an youtube account! Strange
Cannot reproduce on FF 17b5 on Win 7 x64. Please see bug 769721, bug 769048
Summary: Firefox freezes while Playing Youtube Video → [Flash] Firefox freezes while Playing YouTube Video
Hello, I just found this bug-report from 2012 and want to ask you for a short update. I know there was some flash problems back in 2012, so please check if you can still reproduce this problem. thank you for your help.

This has been happening since my very first laptop (LG with Hitachi HDD, Intel Core i3 1st generation and Windows 7 Home Basic x64, "fixed" by a "technician" (a retired technician who's a friend of my stepfather, and as I've had just bough a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 - he has no knowlegde on new hardware and software and unfortunately I was very reckless with my laptops, and the second, being a Dell with Windows 8 x64 that I don't remember any specs except it had a second generation Intel Core i5 and I've used DBAN on it since he "attempted to fix it" and deemed it irreparable (something I hardly doubt, knowing what I know and the fact he installed the Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on that old LG and it's now "going to be repaired" by him by replacing it with a new HDD - it had viruses on the HDD (that he thought he cleaned) and suddenly stopped to work, but that's none of my business anymore, as I now have a perfectly functional (and am no more reckless and know better) Lenovo IdeaPad Z400 Touch (outdated, with no more updates on BIOS and anything else by Lenovo - SAMSUNG Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024(HN-M101MBB) 1TB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive with an 8 Intel Core i7 2nd generation (i7 3632-QM CPu with 2.20Ghz with 8GB RAM) v.6.2.9200.16451 chipset, NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 635M v.9.18.13.4411 with Intel HD Graphics 4000 v.9.17.10.3223 (just updated) and Realtek High Definition Audio Device v.6.0.1.6798, NVIDA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) WDM v.1.2.25.0 and Intel Video Audio v.6.14.0.3097 (also all updated) which suits my needs well (I work with audio production/mixing/mastering/recording using Adobe Audition (with a Roland Duo-Capture MK2 USB Audio Interface) and my player is a highly customized with WASAPI support Foobar2000 v.1.3.3 (the laptop also has a Dolby Home Theater v.4, which I hardly use)and Windows 8 x64 Single Language (with Kubuntu 14.04.1-desktop-amd64 running on a VirtualBox-4.3.16-95972)) since Firefox 28 and further on, in all of these laptops with all of these systems Flash freezes in anything, not just YouTube, if you try to stop, pause or move the video forward on my Firefox, Firefox Beta, Aurora and Nightly (all latest and updated builds, running simultaneously or not (at this moment I'm just on my Aurora, and the plugins are the same for all four (except Aurora and Nightly which include the Video Codec Open H264 by Cisco Systems) which are Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.152, Java Platform SE U67 10.67.2.1 and Quicktime Plugin 7.7.5.0, all updated as well. My addons are also the same for all four - Adblock Plus 2.6.4, Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.9.2, Flash Control 1.1.2, YouTube Video and Audio Downloader 0.3.9.1, and Stylish 1.4.3 (with different global and local styles from Userstyles for each of them, all which work and through disenabling/enabling them and uninstalling/reinstalling the Firefox, Firefox Beta, Aurora and Nightly (primarily to solve a trial and error problem with like/share through third party sites to Facebook and Google Plus and not being able to comment nor see my comments on YouTube even if I posted them from other browsers (Internet Explorer 11, Opera Beta, and Pale Moon x64 - all latest builds and updated) the comments problem was an user account issue and thus not a bug, but the like/share on Facebook and Google Plus through third party sites persist; I've checked that bug). The problem with Flash that has been plaguing Firefox is thus likely a yet unsolved bug, and the problem is always the same: a script stops to respond (has always been in all of these three laptops with Windows - didn't check on Kubuntu on VirtualBox yet and I don't think I will, what with it not being stable enough (given that's on a VirtualBox) to check. You can either let the script run and either the audio and/or video that froze keeps on running until you can effectively regain control of the player, or try to depurate the script (which nobody is going to do anyways, in terms of a regular user of Firefox) or stop the script, which aborts Flash and then you have to reload the page, only for the same thing to happen if you try to mess with the player. I believe this to be a serious issue that shouldn't be taken lightly; if from Firefox 28 onwards on different computers with different hardware/software and two operational systems this still happens, it definitely is not a coincidence, and certainly not due to my past misuse of my other two laptops. Actually it also happened on my desktop computer with a Windows XP SP1 and an Intel Pentium (model unknown to me, but since I've been using computers, with the inception of Firefox, it has been my only browser ever since (I'm not prone to change my basic tools for any kind of activity on a computer, and I only had my own since 2000 - the dark ages of Netscape and IE). I suggest you guys look this through with more seriousness, because I've also witnessed the same thing happening to many people.
A screenshot taken just about three hours ago - yes, it took me three hours to write that (one not so good thing about my computer is its' touchpad and I had to rewrite everything because it closed the tab I was writing on due to me standing up and positioning the computer in another way - about halfway of it...usual Lenovo problems - you'll find plenty of people filing complaints on their forums and reviewers all share the same opinion...but that's life when you can only afford cheapness) http://i.imgur.com/jEvCXKu.png

Bug is still present.
I tried one of the fix provided in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1082670 and the flash seems to be working fine now in the latest nightly.
Thanks, Ajax - Flash updated to 15.0.0.189 on the latest Nightly (firefox-36.0a1 v.4.42.0.0) without the fix and things seem to be working fine. Will check on the latest Aurora, Beta and Release ASAP, I suggest not to consider this as fixed as of yet without thorough verification on the other builds.
All builds updated, tested separately and with all four builds open. Mozilla and Firefox finally succeeded in overcoming the Flash problem. Also tested on Facebook, same procedure. Thanks again Ajax. All builds working perfectly (Firefox 33.0 v.4.42.0.0, Firefox Beta 34.0b2 v.4.42.0.0, Aurora 35.0a2 v.4.42.0.0 and Nightly 36.0a1 v.4.42.0.0) with and without the Flash Control add on enabled. We're done.
Thanks for all the testing. I am glad this old bug is finally licked!

Sad to say, bug still persists - at least on the latest Beta build 34.0b3 v.4.42.0.0 Screenshots: http://i.imgur.com/BPgDmYt.png http://i.imgur.com/dXZGTe1.png JSON (profile) debugger file: https://www.sendspace.com/file/7e5jb6

Actually it's the same bug. YouTube freezes since Firefox 29, and the description is not accurate, whilst I've provided a more thorough insight on it. It's a script error, and the requester of the bug has never returned information, so I've been on this as it was the first bug I've started to work on.

This actually a total different bug, this bug has nothing to do with script error. Plz. fill another bug.
Okay then. It's a waste of time though, since I've (In reply to SpeciesX from comment #23) > (In reply to willsmcgarnigle from comment #22) > > (In reply to SpeciesX from comment #20) > > > Read Commen(In reply to willsmcgarnigle from comment #18) > > > > Sad to say, bug still persists - at least on the latest Beta build 34.0b3 > > > > v.4.42.0.0 > > > > > > > > Screenshots: > > > > http://i.imgur.com/BPgDmYt.png > > > > > > > > http://i.imgur.com/dXZGTe1.png > > > > > > > > JSON (profile) debugger file: > > > > > > > > https://www.sendspace.com/file/7e5jb6 > > > > > > Read Comment 0, this is a different bug. > > > > Actually it's the same bug. Okay then, but it's a waste of time since I'm going to simply repeat what I've said on post 10 and add a few things

If I understand correctly, this is solved in all upcomming versions? there was just one last problem on 34Beta and we don't need an fix?
