STR: 1) Open Fennec with an external URL 2) Click the stop button immediately to prevent the page from loading 3) Click refresh Expected results: Same URL reloads Actual results: about:blank is loaded
Possibly related to whatever regression caused bug 827370.
Depends on: 827370
This also happens after Fennec gets killed (either by Android or by hand). 1) Kill Fennec 2) Relaunch Fennec 3) Fennec starts to load the last page visited 4) stop the page load early on using the X button 5) reload the page 6) page loaded is about:blank not the last page visited It's a scenario that's caught me out on slow mobile data connections, the page appears not to be loading so I stop and start the load - oops, it's reverted to about:blank

What is interesting with Comment 3 is that navigating away from the page and back it loads properly.

If that is the case why doesn't it without navigation?

Also, this is in the General Component, should it be in Session Restore?

I haven't been able to this reproduce when restoring a recently closed tab in a current session but I feel like I should.

Liz, would you mind taking a look?

David, would you as well?

Comment 0 is still valid, so not session restore specifically.

Component: Session Restore → General

I thought about that after the fact.

Should it be a a different bug given the STR?

Any thoughts on Comment 7?

Either I am not catching it quick enough or the stop button isn't working.

Track for Fenix?

Thanks. I think this is a duplicate of bug 1447406. This bug is admittedly five years older than bug 1447406, but that bug has more technical details about possible solutions.

Correction: this bug is not actually a duplicate of bug 1447406. This bug is about user experience of the reload button, while bug 1447406 is about Gecko's choice of default initial page.

Removing [geckoview:fenix:p3] because this is not a GV or Fenix bug.

Hi, issue is still reproducible with the STR from description, with Sony Xperia X5 (Android 7.0), Google Pixel 3a XL (Android 9) and Samsung Galaxy S9 (Android 8.0.0) on Firefox Release 68.1.1, Firefox Beta 68.2b3 and Firefox Nightly 68.2a1 (2019-09-19).
Note:

  1. As an external app I used Gmail.
  2. Checked on Fenix Browser and the page is blank after checking with the STR from description - in case of reloading the blank screen is displayed Version 1.4.1 Build 12531634.
