Outside of changing the footer links across the pages given that some of them are legacy and will be deprecated, can you provide one (or more) redirects that we should put in place to do a 301 redirect to the new location? I would like to get a redirect in place in the short-term.

Perhaps as suggested we have a redirect for all https://www.mozilla.org/privacy-policy.html to go to https://www.mozilla.org/privacy/

Do you know which footer links are creating 404s?

For now, can we redirect these URLs:

Chris:

'Do you know which footer links are creating 404s?' - I do not believe there are any 404s but, it links to the old privacy policy, which I believe is the main issue.

Just sent SVN commit 111555, it is pretty big in terms of the number of files it touches but the changes are small. I basically looked for all links to privacy-policy or privacy-policy.html and ensures these point to the new privacy landing page.

With that said, this is only for the .com side, there is still .org and then there are some of the links above that refers to projects that have completely separate code bases such as webmaker and the wiki.

Do we want to prompt the owners of these projects to change the links or, how should we go about it?

I just created bug 821030 to just put redirects in place for the time being. I would keep this bug open to change footer links later. We have a lot going on right now and some of the footer links may be on pages going away soon and thus making the problem smaller.

Reverted 111555 in r111556, as the code was committed before review. Please attach a diff for review instead of committing directly to trunk. :D

IMO a redirect is all we need (even in the long term) because Cool URIs Don't Change, but that's me. Thoughts?

Yeah, I think a redirect is all that is needed for new. When we fresh templates or touch pages, we can get the links fixed.

Let's close this as bug 790784 will resolove redirects and those footers are going away soon. Thanks!
