User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0 Build ID: 20121128204232 Steps to reproduce: When you currently reset Firefox it automatically preserves all your data (bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies). It should be switched to them as checkboxes and for people who want to reset Firefox and delete all data.

Thank you for your suggestion. This could be a future enhancement.

1. There is a profile manager: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles 2. If switched to checkboxes, a check mark should mean “delete”, so that there is no difference from “Clear private data”. It also must not be confusable with “Clear private data”, because bookmarks and passwords are not likely to be deleted as ordinarily.

IMHO there should be an "Advanced" button which lets you select the type of data you want to preserve, and which you don't. This will also allow for not preserving anything at all.

(In reply to Ioana Budnar, QA [:ioana] from comment #4) > Florian, you can file a new bug for that and mark it as an enhancement. Bug 883955. Although I believe Bug 883955 duplicates this bug, because it can provide the feature requested above, and more. @Aleksej: The profile manager is no longer supported by Mozilla (at least I was told). However, it's the stop-gap fix here.
I think there's value in this, but I think it shouldn't be more complicated than a binary choice of "reset all" (i.e. create a new profile) vs. "reset some" (the current feature).
I would argue that this is the antithesis of the reset feature and complicating it with checkboxes or additional options will make it far less valuable for most people. If you wish to not save any data, a new profile can be created with the profile manager as noted in comment 2.
