I have not seem even once my phone to show me the name of my contact.
My contacts match exactly to the phone number I see displayed when receiving a call.
They all start with "+1" and even then.
I also noticed that call history only shows phone number and no name for those numbers.
It is as though I did not have that contact at all.
I don't see it as a blocker since the phone is still usable but it is a nice feature to have.

Could you test this with a contacts you are sure that not comes from facebook import ?

FYI:
All my contacts except 1 comes from a SIM import --> no caller id.
I added one more contact (my home phone) and called myself --> no caller id.

Armen: Using the latest nightly build, I am not having this issue with contacts I have added on my own (I cannot import from SIM because I have Sprint). Each time when I dial my unagi device from another device I See the contact name.
What kind of SIM card are you using?

I forgot to add that my call history shows the name of my contact as well - so I am definitely not seeing what Armen is seeing using an AT&T card.

I'm on beta. Would you like me to flash to nightly and see if I still have the problem?
I have Rogers Canada.

I've tried with the 12-12 update and I still face the issue.
I've discovered that the issue is due to the last name not being specified on the phonebook.
I want to expand the problem to not showing the contact name even when I make a call by visiting first the contact on the phonebook.
I've also filed a bug similar to this where SMS conversations don't show the name of the user but the phone number if the last name is not specified (bug 822009).
Summary: CallerID does not work → CallerID does not work (when the contact does not have the last name specified on the phonebook)

Tested this on 12-15 nightly build, and the Caller ID works without a last name. See screenshot.

So this seems to be fixed on nightly but not yet on beta?
When will the next beta be issued? I guess we need to find the fix so we can uplift it. Is that how the process works?

armen> this will need to land on aurora+b2g18, not beta.
Current nightly are (or should..) be done using the b2g18 repository, will check if this is the case.

From today's nightly, they're made from the b2g18 branch.

Can't reproduce this with current master & current b2g18.
Could this come from another problem ?
For example, what is the type of the phone number ? I tried with "mobile" and both numbers in international or not international format.

Tried with various imported contacts from SIM and I don't get this issue.

Did you remove the last name for the contact?
I've been using Canadian phone numbers (+19998887777) on an Unagi phone.
FTR I'm on the update 12-12 for the beta channel.

Yes, they have no last names.
Your build is some days old already, it may have been fixed already. Maybe Francisco will have some hint about this.

Hi folks,
I think this could be related to using a version where libphonenumber is not working propertly.
The contact match is not based on name or surname, just in the phone number.
IMHO, this should be fixed in the latest builds from b2g18. Would like to close as worksforme, but will prefer to wait till :armenzg checks the issue is solved for him.
Cheers!

This might be the problem from bug 818507. Somehow we forgot to uplift the patch :(

Bug 818507 landed to b2g18, but anyway I couldn't reproduce this bug before that anyway ;)
Armen, could you try it again with the latest nightly if this is possible ?

What would be the right way of flashing my device to nightly?
I have only used this before: https://github.com/mozilla-b2g/dogfood-setup/blob/master/dogfood-setup.sh

Armen> talked with :vingtetun and he thinks you could fuck up your phone, so we'll have to wait until you have a new dogfood build. Hopefully this will be soon.
In the mean time I'm closing this bug because the QA didn't reproduce it either. Please reopen this if you find it again in the next update.
