Accessing HTMLDocument does not work any more. This bug was probably introduced when the XPCDOM landed Mozilla version: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9+) Gecko/20010524

This problem seems to apply to all the interfaces defined in the DOM recomendations. I don't know if this is a duplicate of bug #80046 or just related

There is no alert because HTMLDocument is undefined. See the Javascript Console.

I do not see any alert at all. The javascript console does print HTMLdocument is undefined. Also, i cannot get this test case to work in any other browser too including communicator 4.x and IE. dunno if this is really a bug ??

This one and all other DOM interfaces were accessible before the change to XPCDOM and it allowed high level of customizations and emulations for Mozilla. Two good examples are Jeff Yates Range Patch (pwbandit.com) and my own IE Emulation (webfx.eae.net)
