User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0
Build ID: 20121130221729
Steps to reproduce:
I like the "new" feature showing recent pages when a new TAB is created. However if you sorted the links (any order you choose) and eliminated duplicates, it would be more effective. Priority LOW - ehnancement (suggested)
Actual results:
works but shows too many duplicate links
Expected results:
a simple sort/dupeout would be really nice

Mass-move to Firefox::New Tab Page.
Filter on new-tab-page-component.
Component: Tabbed Browser → New Tab Page
This patch adds a simple duplication removal to how the new tab page acquires its links. The only case that is removed is when both an http and an https version of the same URL are available.
There are many cases which this deduplication does not handle due to their potential for fouling up intentional duplication. For example, "http://youtube.com" does not get replaced by "https://www.youtube.com"

Nice, and thank you.
I see the problem with www or other prefixes. It could be done, but is probably not worth the hassle.
