Just for clarification, is this about RSS feeds or also phishy newsgroup feeds?

I think this is about the RSS feeds (newsblog) in SeaMonkey MailNews.
A more complicated issue is to make our suite/mailnews/phishingDetector.js also check the phish/malware tables when any mail message containing dubious links is viewed. At the moment our phishingDetector.js just does static checks, I think.

This would probably be simpler once Bug 633937 is fixed.
q.v. Bug 633937 - Make use of the toolkit's notificationbox to display notifications in MailNews (Port Bug 562048)
Depends on: 633937

Yes, it's just a fixed set of rules (see Thunderbird meta bug 654502). Making it use the tables to improve the scam warning certainly would be a plus. On the other hand, one may argue that it should be sufficient already to show the browser's warning when clicking on a link. Anyway, that's a discussion for a new bug then.
Filed bug 837386 for the message display.
