Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.1) Gecko/20010607 BuildID: 20010607 From the mail client, I could 'save as' any email message to a file with .eml extension. However there is no opion such as 'open message from file' to read this exported email message back to the mail & news module Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.save any existing email message to local hard disk with extension .eml 2.use mozilla to open the exported file 3.message is only shown in normal browser instead of the email client. Actual Results: the email message was convert to html style and is shown on the browser. Expected Results: the exported email messages should be able to be read back to the email client.

Depends on what the reporter meant with "read back into email client". If he means that the msg should be copied into the msg store, this is not a dup of 34150. Eric leung, reopen, if necessary. There is a bug somewhere (I <mozilla@bucksch.org> filed it) that asks to import a mail from clipboard, not sure, if that covered .eml files.
When a user export his email as .eml files, he would redistribut it through normal file system so that he could share it with other users. For the receiver, he should read back the .eml with his email client. And it is logical for the system to provide an opion to the user that he could either save the email msg back to his msg store or leave it as an .eml files

Actually, "Copy msg to <folder>" (which basically is "save in msg store") is a command available in the standalone msg window. Didn't remember that. So, it indeed was a dup. Sorry. Marking as such. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 34150 ***
