FireJump https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/FireJump-free/ is causing crashes in [@ StrChrIA ]. See this bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=530074 According to comment 63: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=530074#c63 It's #2 top browser crasher in 19.0.2, #3 in 20.0b4 and 21.0a2, and #6 in 22.0a1. That higher volume is likely caused by FireJump (see http://firejump.net/) where it's correlated at 22%: StrChrIA|EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ (3995 crashes) 22% (862/3995) vs. 1% (1095/139851) firejump@firejump.net (1.0.2.5) StrCmpNIA|EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ (406 crashes) 21% (86/406) vs. 1% (1095/139851) firejump@firejump.net (1.0.2.5) StrStrIA|EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ (18 crashes) 33% (6/18) vs. 1% (1095/139851) firejump@firejump.net (1.0.2.5) I hereby request it be blocklisted.

I'm trying to get in touch with the developers.
There are larger problems here. 1) The addon is forced into the profile directly by the installer. No confirmation dialogues, just modify the profile for it to become active immediately. 2) The installer modifies the system. The uninstaller does NOT remove following files: C:\Windows\System32\dhRichClient3.dll C:\Windows\System32\sqlite36_engine.dll This can lead to Firefox still crashing, even when the extension is long gone!
Summary: Blocklist FireJump due to high crash volume in [@ StrChrIA ] → Blocklist FireJump
Please note that this extension and DLLs are injected into firefox and the user does not get asked by Firefox if they approve of this. We continue to see inflow of affected people where Firefox completely fails to start! (so, yeah, no crash reports for them) How do we get more attention to this bug?
(In reply to Thomas B. Rücker from comment #3) > How do we get more attention to this bug? We don't block before contacting developers (see comment 1) unless it's pure malware.
Also, we haven't verified that FireJump is the one at fault here. We know there's a correlation between the crash and German speakers, and FireJump is very popular in Germany. It's not entirely clear that FireJump is the cause, or what they can do to fix the problem.

I got a reply from the FireJump people last time I contacted them, but the discussion didn't go anywhere. I'll ping them again.

The developers sent me the sources for their extension, and it's a simple JS extension, so it is unlikely to be the cause behind the crashes. I don't think we have enough information to move this block forward.
I agree that we don't want to block them in this case Is the JS add-on the only things they deploy? If so, I think we need someone to debug what's going on there.

At any rate, the debugging should happen on bug 530074.
