i've been seeing this in both the branch and trunk [and both themes], but i'm
not sure of the exact causes... basically, sometimes the path that's displayed
in the file picker's "Look in" textfield has an extra [double] slash at the root
--eg, a path is displayed as //export/builds, rather than /export/builds.
i've seen this under two conditions:
a. viewing a dir in the file picker which is on my local machine [as opposed to
be to being network mounted]. eg, i can see this when looking at /export/builds
[local partition], but not /u/sairuh [network mounted].
and/or,
b. i bring up the file picker via Save Link As... [context menu], or clicking a
link that'd bring up the download/helper app dialog [and selecting save to disk
from there].
my initial gut feeling is that (a) is the necessary requirement...thoughts?

well, i managed to repro this when i went to a network mounted dir --so much for
the local partition theory... will attach screenshot soon [what the heck].

maybe the trick is to first go up to /, then going downwards into a [sub]dir.

yes, i think i can boil this down to some easier steps [lemme know if this
doesn't work for you]:
1. open file picker [accel+O, or File > Open File].
2. go to the root dir --either enter / in the "File name" field, or hit the ..
button till you get there.
3. go inter a subdirectory --either by entering the subdir's name in the "File
name" field, or by double-clicking its name in the file listing.
result: the "Look in" field will display the double slash [at the root level].
