Never mind, don't bother. This bug actually has nothing to do with
HTML5 video. It happens with *any* two windows:
1) Run Firefox on a system with multiple displays.
2) Open two windows, and put one on each display.
3) Make one of them fullscreen.
That window does become fullscreen, but the other one seems to
disappear (the "space" it was in changes to a grey background).
Summary: Fullscreen video with multiple monitors → Wierdness making one window fullscreen while another window is displayed on a different monitor

The same thing happens with Safari and Chrome, at least on OS X 10.8.3.
So this is apparently not a bug but a feature, at least from Apple's point of view.
I'm not sure there's anything we can do about this. And if we *do* make changes, we may get the Apple fanboys mad at us :-)

Sorry about my bad bug reporting, I'm new to this.
I realise that this is a so-called "feature" of Mac OS now, but I think that Firefox could be made to work around this by offering a choice.
For users who have multiple monitors, could there be a setting to revert to the old style of fullscreen? Whereby one could have a separate fullscreen window in each screen and not using the Mac OS fullscreen API.

That's much easier said that done, and it may even be impossible. To
accomplish this we'd have to interfere with the operations of the OS
at a very low level.
Still, though, I'd be willing to look for a workaround if only Firefox
was effected -- though that wouldn't be high on my list of priorities.
But this bug (and yes, I agree it's a bug) appears to be platform wide
(is also seen in other apps), and to be the result of a deliberate
decision by Apple. So it's extremely unlike that we'll be working on
it (looking for a workaround) anytime soon.
The thing to do is complain to Apple. Open a bug report at
https://bugreport.apple.com. And look for lists at
http://lists.apple.com/ where it'd be appropriate to discuss this
subject.

Alex:
If, by some chance, Apple has a "defaults" setting to change this behavior, and if you find out about it, please report that information here :-)
If such a setting does exist, it's most likely to be undocumented. But someone else may already have found it, and have written about it on one of Apple's lists, or perhaps elsewhere on the web.

Well I've noticed in the past that VLC offers an option to "Use native full screen mode". So there must be a way to disable it.
I will keep an eye out in the future though.
Thanks
