Details

When localhost is entered in the feild for either the SMTP or incoming server in the account wizard it pops up an alert saying that it is not a valid host name. This is necessary for some accounts.
for how to add it, see comment in bug 85403. This issue keeps surfacing though, like in bug 84465. The obstacle seems to be that account wizard doesn't take heigth for port settings. Don't know whether it's all considered covered in bug 52330.
Bhuvan, is this a dupe of bug# 52330.

As far as the naming convention, please take a look at the bug 80855 for the description on the way valid hostnames are to be built (excerpts from RFC). For incoming servers, one can always set them from the account manager panel. Did you try typing the localhost for the server name in the accoutn wizard and then using the port field in the server settings panel (Edit->MailNews Settings-><Your Imap Account>->Server Settings) for entering your port number (1110) ? That should probably help you. We need to introduce similar mechanism for SMTP servers also. So, SMTP portion is a dup of 52330.
