I can easily reproduce this issue by: Set layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations to TRUE 1. open about:addons (ctrl-shift-a) 2. click on the little wheel and try to select Check for updates 3. You cannot select anything from the drop-down menu Also the dropdown menus from websites don't work anymore. See http://furthestcity.com/index.php - I cannot scroll/select in the country list!

Firstly you guys have too many preferences in about:config changed from default to non-default values. Try a fresh new clean profile with default values and not forcing anything in about:config. Secondly you can experience these things or some artifacts as you guys run on old internal Intel GPUs and you force Firefox to use disabled features for these GPUs.

No matter what GFX card you have. If you set layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations to TRUE your drop down menus won't work anymore!

Odd, It's working for me with layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations set to true or at least on this site you mention http://furthestcity.com/index.php I can easily select country and city from drop down menu. I use Firefox 30.0a1 (Nightly) 32bit on Windows 7 64bit with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 v2 as GPU. I do not enabled OMTC and E10S yet as it still to bugged and not working properly.

For me it's easily reproducible on a clean profile with "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled" and "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations" set to true. On an amd HD5770 and a nvidia 525m graphics card.

OK, I think I may reproduce this issue in other way (off course if this is still the same issue mentioned above). Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to "about:config" 2. Set "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations" to "true" 3. Use left mouse button to get a menu on some preference 4. Try clicking some option in this menu 5. You can't as you doesn't have focus in this menu, focus is in about:config not in the menu itself Is this the bug you guys talking about? Because I still see sropdown menus on http://furthestcity.com/index.php, which you guys have problem based on 875209#c11 (comment 11) FYI - patch for bug #963952 was backed out because it was triggering some other bugs

So as soon as you set "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations" to "true", neither on http://furthestcity.com/index.php nor on about:addons (click on the wheel where you check for updates) I cannot make any selection from the drop down list as the selection is not visible.

the newest nightly has fixed this for me. but there are a few problems like not copying a link when I copy it using the dropdown and failing to display context highlight in about config and on addon setting but I attribute it to enabling remore (e10). cheers!

Before I wasn't able to reproduce this issue fully, because I had "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.force-basic" set to "true". Now I can reproduce it. so I'm marking this bug as NEW and adding a few persons to CC.

I see this problem in the about:config and bookmarks sidebar context menus: 0. "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled" is already enabled. 1. enable "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.async-animations", 2. Open a context menu on about:config or bookmarks sidebar. 3. Try to select a menu entry by mouse, the mouseover for the item behind is shown, and mouse click operates on menu item behind. Selection by keyboard works. This happens on Windows7, with 20140412 nightly and both 32 bit and 64bit versions.

Actually, might the menu selection part of this bug be a duplicate of bug 969222?
