From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.2) Gecko/20010628 BuildID: 2001062815 The online/offline icon is quite similar in appearence and sometimes hard to notice, not to mention the very little difference between "Work Offline" and "Work Online" under the File menu. Two possible modifications to acknowledge everyone about the status: 1. Print the status - append something like "[OFFLINE]" to the title. 2. Add some colors to the status icon... - maybe green for online icon and red for offline icon

reporter: are you talking about modern or classic? classic has gone through at least two revisions of the online indicator (in nc4.x) and perhaps another in mozilla. Modern is netscape6/mozilla and has gone through 3 replacements.
Component: User Interface Design → Themes
The online/offline status icons in both themes have this problem, but worse in Modern. Let them be more distinct is a good thing, IMHO. I discovered this problem because I had clicked that icon accidently and Mozilla (with Modern theme) "didn't work" suddenly. It took me quite a while to figure out what happened and changed it back to online mode.
comments anyone?

From my dupped bug: The icon for the online state of the offline/online indicator in the bottom right of the Navigator window looks like it would stand for offline. There is a black gap of several pixels between the 2 connectors. To me, this always looks like unplugged instead of plugged. To interpret the icon, I always have to click on it to see the other state and compare them - only then I can see, which one means online and which offline (because the offline one is even clearere unplugged, because it has a much wider gap). This happened repeated times - I did this procdure at least 5 times in the past. For me, this is proof that the online icon failed and is unadequate. Request: Remove the black gap between the connector symbols to make them look clearly connected.
Summary: Offline status in titlebar and/or colorful online/offline icon → Change Online/Offline icons to make state obvious
Is there still development on the themes? If not, I'd like to WONTFIX.

(In reply to comment #8) > Is there still development on the themes? If not, I'd like to WONTFIX. If noone currently wants to fix a particular valid bug, it should just stay open. This doesn't hurt. ;-) This bug just needs someone to open an image editor and paint a better icon (and two reviews after this), so there is not so much development work needed to fix it.
Sefan: you are probably right... Any chance you could find someone to do this for 1.8f?

(In reply to comment #11) > Created an attachment (id=177323) [edit] > Offline- Icon > > Please, see attachment I'm not sure a completely orange one works for offline, perhaps one side drained of colour but still with dark edges would look better or orange with black/blue edges? Either way a screen shot of both icons in place next to cookie/padlock icons would help.
I wanted to use not too many colors, because the classic-theme is not really "multicolored". I think, this orange is not too importunately. Everyone is to recognize, is the status On- or Offline. Please, see the new Screenshot.

The other thing to consider is how it looks in 256 colour mode

Comment on attachment 209527 [details] Icons with 256 colors Screen-Resolution (on Win...) 256 colors "screen-resolution" is imbecility- "colour mode" is the correct designation.
The online-icon with the lightgreen or the darkgreen form the buttons? And what is with the offline-icon? Leave it in the old colours or also both sides in orange?

Hey!!Can I take and work on this one?
This seems dormant, so sure - if it's still an issue.
