adding localizers to see if they can find a work around for this
I don't think we can translate this string different. a general UX solution is needed as l10n needs often more space as en_US!
UX and l10n are working on this. In the meantime, we try to find workarounds, as annoying as it is... Have you taken a look at the l10n UX guidelines: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16P56U6bSM1KVunkCG3WLmtH1cmhQf7YxT4mTPyWAnUw/edit Please let me know if you still can not find a workaround and if the outcome is not understandable to the general public
Ton maybe we can change this to 'energiebesparing'?
I’d rather not. ‘Energiebesparende modus’ is simply the best translation, as this is about a particular mode, and widely used. When using ‘Modus voor energiebesparing’, Energiebesparingsmodus’ or just ‘Energiebesparing’, it doesn’t get any better. The mode is important - strictly spoken one cannot switch the saving itself on or off (see the line below), only its mode. Maybe worse: this line/entity is shared with the line above in black, causing both strings to appear twice in the same screen (as in bug 889490) without having an option to change that. So I’d rather see a fix that enables wrapping to a second line - for ‘modus’ in this case (preferably in a separate entity) - it can’t be too hard. In general: it’s a waste to see many bugs about non-fitting strings that are followed by a horizontal radio button eating valuable space.
