From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.2) Gecko/20010628 BuildID: 2001062823 I highlight a url in a XEmacs 21.1.14 window. This url is now in the X primary selection. Now I go to Mozilla and do File->Open Web Location... and try to paste into the entry field. Nothing happens. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Highlight a url using the X selection 2. Go to mozilla and choose File->Open Web Location... 3. Clear the field by hitting backspaces 4. Hit the middle button in the entry field Actual Results: Nothing Expected Results: The highlighted text should be pasted into the url field. This works for Netscape 4.7x If the XEmacs window is from a XEmacs process running on the same host as mozilla, it works as expected. If however, the XEmacs window is from a XEmacs process running on a different host and displaying back on the local X server via gnuclient, the paste operation fails. The exact same recipe works fine for Netscape 4.x.
Duplicate of "make clipboard async -- otherwise paste from remote apps can fail." Also see bug 55312 for more discussion. Also see bug 87207 for a better workaround than bug 55312 implements. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 84973 ***
