The chat status indicators in the menu (this colored balls) are blurry on a Mac with Retina display, because the balls are not HiDPI.

Hmm, this should be already HiDPI, see http://mxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/source/mail/themes/osx/mail/chat.css#186 and following.
I can't test this as I have no HiDPI Mac. Could it be this doesn't work because it is in system menu?

Sounds possible. In the chat window itself the indicators are HiDPI. I also noticed that the indicators in the system menu are much bigger than in the chat window. Maybe they are blurry because they are scaled up in the menu.

This is fixed on Retina Mac.
