When having a huge number of bookmarks (I've got ~ 10,000) it's really impossible to classify them into folders by copying and moving up/down to the target folder to paste them. What I am proposing, is either being able to copy/paste between two different bookmark lists, or have the same bookmark list shown in two *independent* columns so that one can pick from one and place in the other. By independent I mean being able to scroll one of them up and down, while having the other stay put. In this way it would be easy to have one showing the target folder and going down the other to pick bookmarks for moving them to the target folder.

i see l´this iplemented kindof like Norton Commander (or the modern Windows Commander, see www.ghisler.com). A very cool idea indeed. Since this view might be confusing to most novice users, it should be off by default and a menu item to turn it on (view - two collumn bookmark view)
reporter: if you set your navigator sidebar to bookmarks and open the bookmarks window, can you drag between the two w/o losing data? [this would qualify as a workaround]
If the root bookmarks folder was shown, you could open a second bookmark manager window by right-clicking the root folder and selecting "open in new window". We used to have a visible root bookmarks folder (it was added in bug 36339). What happened to it?
Summary: two (columned) bookmark list → two-columned bookmark list
Sounds like an add-on, not a default. And a dupe of something I've seen earlier. Nobody, dupeme.

VERIFIED Dupe. If not in exact word -definitely in spirit. These two rfe's ask for the same functionality. *note you canpretty much accomplish this task anyway by using the sidebar in various ways.
