Hi Thomas, do you know if this is doable?
This is not part of v1.1 scope and will not be done by Mozilla, but we can find out if this is doable for partner.

UX - do we want to consider this? a global switch to enable/disable auto rotate?

I am not aware of this as a 1.1 or 1.2 feature (in that I cannot find it in the 1.2 backlog). Flagging Product team to comment on feature inclusion and timing.

Ultimately, each app can still decide on enabling rotation or not. The proposed switch, is it to force a certain orientation that gets passed to the individual apps (which can make use of it or not)?

It's a global switch for all apps.If disabled, all apps can't rotate.
