For some reason when I install an addon from amo, there is no progress indicator. This might be related to something else, have to investigate.
Can you provide the addon you were not able to see its progress indicator? Or to attach a minimal testcase?

This happens in a research project and not a shipping configuration. Did you actually follow the steps on https://wiki.mozilla.org/Electrolysis to enable it? I think you might have been unaware of that and wasted some time, sorry. :(

I can reproduce this when installing Adblock Plus. I see the "3-2-1... Install Add-ons only from authors whom you trust" dialog, but I don't see the download progress dialog. If I reset browser.tabs.remote=false, then I see both the download progress dialog and the install dialog.
