To be clear: we remove Android compatibility from packaged apps during the review as we can't review them. If developers add support for Desktop to their packaged apps we will remove that also, until a time when we can review them.

Bill - can you shed some light on comment 1? I'm not sure the status of testing packaged apps on Android and desktop but it sounded like we were ready to add support.

The Payment flow on Android is less than ideal and is currently broken. We need UX sign off on the flow itself and then for users to be able to purchase apps before this gets turned on in prod. We still need to let devs know about these exciting changes when they are ready to ship.

What I really want to enable at this moment is end-to-end testing of packaged app installation on android and desktop. So, if we could enable packaged installs for android and desktop on marketplace-dev.allizom.org that would meet my needs for now, AFAIK. I want to hold off on mailing developers at least until we have figured out our packaged app signature validation story, which has implications for both android and desktop signed add-ons (see bug 896620)

Ok. I'm going to wontfix this bug based on comment 5, and if we need to email people once it is on in prod we can cross this bridge then.
