I am trying to see why we are treating differently the attachment area in the reply and "Editing as new" cases. In both cases the attachment is a part of the message body but when i reply to a forwarded as an attachment message i am able to edit the attachment part but it is not true for "Edit as new..." Is a reply same as forwarding Inline ( because i am able to Edit as new the Inline message)? In any event here are the steps to reproduce: - select a message; - forward it as an attachment; - get the message and click Edit as new; //note: you are not able to Edit ( not the reply case neither forward Inline)

I am finding this bug difficult to understand. (I was looking at it to see if might be a dupe of bug 218912, but I don't think it is.) It's not clear to me what is being edited -- the forwarded message itself, or the message containing the forwarded message. If the former, then, when you open an attached window into its own window: Edit as New is not working (altho enabled) -- this is bug 218912; and Reply is disabled (see bug 201881, bug 204350). This is true since 1.4 -- in 1.3, and I don't know for much earlier than that, opening an attached message into its own window opened into a browser window rather than a message window. If the latter, then I am not seeing a problem: if I edit a message containing an attachment As New, or if I reply to it, the attachment box works as expected.

No response; =>WFM assuming that the problem is editing the message containing the attachment. If not, this maybe should be a dupe of bug 218912, but no loss by not duping.
