Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130911155657
Actual results:
At present, Firefox for Linux saves the data and configuration of the user inside ~/.mozilla/firefox.
Expected results:
I think Firefox should follow the proposal of freedesktop.org (http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html) and store personal configuration in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME (default to ~/.config) and personal data in $XDG_DATA_HOME (default to ~/.local/share/).
This way has some advantages. First, it avoids that $HOME are cluttered by lots of configuration files and directories. Moreover, group together all configuration and data files, permits to the user to copy its complete configuration easily.

Like with other programs, people cannot agree on what is configuration and what is data.
