Yes, AFAIK, assertions like this are no-ops on opt builds.

It's very unlikely that I'll have time for that in the next 2 weeks, do feel free to bounce to someone else.

I can take a look as soon as I have some free cycles. I'm leaving the ni? flag on me, but feel free to work on this if anyone else has time for it.

Currently I cannot even build for the emulator in Mac so it will take me some more time... :(
