Details

Hi, I'm new to mozilla. I've been using Netscape (on Linux) for as long as they supported my OS. I just downloaded a PDF file, and noticed that I can no longer type in a path of the directory I want to place the PDF. I had to do the old (Microsoft) hunt and peck with the buttons to get to the directory I wanted. This may be small, but it is awfully annoying. I mentioned this to a few of my coworkers, and they also agreed. It would be nice if I could edit the path name of the current directory. What would really be cool, is to have a bash like "command line completion" where you enter the path to the point you don't remember (or just get lazy) and hit the tab key (or some other key) and the text widget fills in the text up to the point where it is no longer unique. Then at that point, have the file window show all the matching names. So the user can either finish typing, or start the hunt and peck ritual. Thanks, -- Steve
Duplicate of "Need editable directory names in file picker" By the way, you can just type in the directory name and hit enter.... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 64746 ***

reporter: can you type anything into the filename box? if not then what window manager are you using? if it's twm or if you aren't, then this is a dupe of one of the bugs about that (and the current suggestion is to use a window manager that isn't related to twm). Otherwise this bug probably belongs to bryner. for now, please include the following info: vnedor/product name/version/revision of : X11 server, gtk, window manager, kernel, libc, distro, mozilla binary (was it a nightly build, a milestone build, an rpm package, who made it, was it Qt, xlib, gtk -- in general always include the mozilla build id when filing bugs about mozilla binaries). oh and don't make random rants about software you don't use. Windows file pickers allow you to enter paths, and even do completion.
