Long text fragments not copied to primary selection

Details
If you select a small amount of text and copy, it gets copied to the primary
selection; if you select a large amount of text (e.g. Select All on
http://www.jwz.org/xkeycaps/ ) it gets copied to the clipboard as shown by
xclipboard, but not the primary selection. This is inconsistent behaviour.
(I hope I got the terminology right.)
I'm using klipper from KDE 2.1.1 if that's relevant.
(If this is the correct behaviour I think it should be documented.)

Did copy with "Select All" followed by "Copy" (ctrl-c or from menu)? If so,
this is "Select All (+ Copy) does not clobber the X primary selection". If not,
please reopen.
