When I open Mail, either by mozilla.exe -mail, by CTRL+2, clicking the toolbar,
or anywhere else, I should be directed to my mail box, not that "Mozilla Mail"
screen.

So check "Check for New Mail at Startup".

Wouldn't that just be a work around? What if I don't want to "check email at
startup"? What if my pop server is too slow, and I don't want to waste trips to
this server, but just actually check it once, and retrieve it all? However, I
may want to start up mail many times, and read few emails at a time, or past
emails. Like when we deal with bugs mailed from bugzilla, we may deal with some
at one time, the with some other another time.
Also, this is not a valid solution to this problem, because I'm checking the
option "check new mail at startup", and not "go to my inbox at startup". These
are different things.

I prefer the way things work now. I have several mail accounts in my profile,
and the opening screen lets me choose which inbox to open. It would probably be
preferable to go directly to the inbox if there is only one account set up.

Perhaps there could be a control in the preferences to select any one item from
the tree in the left hand pane on the main screen, to start up in - then you
could start in a particular folder, Account Central for an account, or even a
newsgroup if desired.

Whereas the behaviour described as a bug in comment 0 is accurate (contradicting
my comment 7 -- sorry about that), I believe that what you describe is not a
bug. Furthermore, as there is a very straightforward workaround (see comment 3),
I don't believe that fixing this issue merits the UI clutter and complexity that
it would entail.
