Using build 0.9.3 ( 2001080110 ) When I go to a page with some popup windows (like when I click on the "Play Video" link on the page http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/08/09/new.mexico.jail.break/index.html ), nothing happens and the browser does not accept to create windows after (not just popup, Ctrl+N does not work either). This was not present if I remember in 0.9.2, but was present in nightly-2001-07-13-10-trunk and in nightly-2001-08-02-10-trunk (and also in 0.9.3). This is quite annoying as it means restarting mozilla. To reproduce: 1. go to http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/08/09/new.mexico.jail.break/index.html 2. click on "Play video" Actual result: No popup window appears + not possible to do "Ctrl + N" to get a new browser window Expected result: popup window and "Ctrl + N" later should still work. Note: I could not use the bug entry helper as when I did "Open Bugzilla Entry Form", it got stuck.

Leaving Mozilla (File -> Exit) does not clean up everything and I could not start another mozilla before doing "End task" on the remaining mozilla. ===== Freshly started Mozilla is able to display correctly the page and the popup. I will post more information if I can reproduce again. But this problem happened to me several times since after 0.9.2 (0.9.2 never did this to me)

Reporter: Are you using the hidden pref: block popup windows ? Standart questions: Have you installed mozilla in a fresh directory (not over an older build) ? Can you try it with a new profile ? (mozilla -profilemanager)

I am not using the hidden pref to block the popup windows. I did an install in a fresh directory, but I am using an existing profile.

I will try a new profile. But I do, here is some more information:After some use of Mozilla, I have noticed that when this problem occurs, if I do "File -> Exit", all the windows are closed but Mozilla is still running (in the task manager). I need to kill it (end task) before being able to restart it.Hope this helps.

sounds like a runaway process. Definately try a new profile

The same process jean-noel reports happens to me very often (once every 2 days) on Win2k (using mozilla 2001090808 now), many JavaScript-enabled sites wouldn't work properly with pop-ups or even trying to open a link in a new window after surfing for hours on sites with JavaScript and pop-ups. When leaving Mozilla, I have a zombie process that I have to kill if I want to restart Mozilla. It's not specific to cnn.com and the pop-up problem is triggered only after some time.

Ok, I'm going to add to this-- It's even worse for me. using the link provided int he description-- the popup "pops up" for about 1/10th of a second, then disappears, as if it was going BEHIND hte main window. But it's not there. The bizzare thing is that 30 seconds later I heard CNN playing the stream! Even though the window was nowhere to be found. Also, the window "CNN.com Video/Audio" appears in my task menu, but selecting does not cause any new window to appear. This is build 2001092508 (0.9.4+) on a Mac w/9.2.1

the play video link, javascript:med_vod('/video/us/2001/08/09/nm.jailbreak.koat.med.exclude.html'); does nothing for me. It doesn't pop up a window and it doesn't cause any problems in the browser. The link works in IE but not in 100610 mozilla win32 trunk build on win2K.
