Expected result: You should always get a message to the effect that "file is too large". Actual result: SMS app, on some trials, actually tries to embed the too large file into the SMS message. It's still possible to play the music file from there, but text above is truncated (see screenshot, attached), and SMS app is frozen.

That bug speaks of the error message problem. This bug is talking about the SMS app freezing.

But in Bug 943976 we'll also prevent attaching such a file. Won't that make this bug disappear as well?

I've just seen that the Music app already shows such an error message currently in master (and probably 1.3)

Don't know - I think we would have to confirm this post landing of bug 943976. I'll mark this dependent on bug 943976 for now, but not dupe cause I don't think it's 100% conclusive that bug will fix this issue.

Does the freezing problem reproduce on 1.1?

I am unable to repro this issue on the latest Buri 1.1 and the Leo 1.1 -Buri 1.1- Gaia 4795e1f663b26e03268cfd8e1a168f413b2bd396 SourceStamp 9d593727eb94 BuildID 20131214040201 Version 29.0a1 -Leo 1.1- Gaia 6ff3a607f873320d00cb036fa76117f6fadd010f SourceStamp bdac595a4e46 BuildID 20131216041202 Version 18.0

Sarah - Were you able to reproduce the issue on 1.2?

John - Could you double check your STR here to see if you figure out how to reproduce this?

You have the error message if you "pick" a video/music from the SMS app, but you won't have it if you start from the video app and you "share" from there.

This is the correct STR. I'm picking from the SMS app (and repeating it 6-7 times to produce the freeze - should have mentioned that!). It generally won't reproduce on a single trial.

I tried several times on a Flame (likely configured to 1GB) with a 8MB mp3. Without reproducing. Closing, but please reopen if you still see this.
