Details

I am using Mozilla 0.9.3 on Debian GNU/Linux for PowerPC ('testing' variant) on a Macintosh PowerBook G3. I wanted to comment on a UI behavior that has been bothering me for a while now, and (I suspect) will be sure to confuse new users. The problem is that, when I enter something in the URL box (e.g. a search query), I have to click *twice* on any button (e.g. the search button) before it is clicked. (Technically, the first click gets rid of the drop-down auto-completion menu.) This makes the "search" button, in particular, especially unnatural to use. (One wants to type something in the URL box, then click "search"...but, hey, nothing happened!) Perhaps you should consider the possibility of letting the same click that dismisses the drop down completion menu (which wasn't explicitly requested by the user) also be "active" (i.e.able to click buttons, etcetera). Cordially, Steven G. Johnson PS. I notice that there is also an item in the completion menu to 'Search Google for "..."'. Yes, I can click this instead of the search button, but I didn't even notice this for a long time because my eyes had already gone to the search button *before* I typed anything in the URL box. Is it really good design to have two "buttons" on the screen to do exactly the same thing?
Confirmed build 2001081303 WinNT. I've vaguely noticed this for a while actually, and it can certainly prove very irritating.

WinME 2001100803 Hopefully someone will look into this sometime in the near future. It is rather annoying, especially when using the 'go' button. IE does this feature the way I'd like to see it. Clicking go, search, even file, edit, etc., will take precedence even if there is something in the autocomplete box without a need to click anywhere a second time.
