Since Bug 852648 you get a native OS X notification for every new mail. You can than open NC and click on the notification to open this message in Thunderbird. But if you have moved the message (e.g. to the trash), than it only opens a blank window. STR: 1. Receive a new mail on OS X 10.8 or 10.9 -> You will see a native OS X notification for this email 2. Open the notification center, find "Thunderbird" and the notification for this new mail. Click on it. -> A window in Thunderbird opens with your new email. (It only opens in a new window, this is Bug 937909) 3. Move the message to the trash, do not delete it. Than again click on the notification in NC. -> A blank message window opens 4. Move the deleted mail back and click again on the notification in NC. -> Still a blank window opens
