It would be nice to be able to choose "File | New | Message from Template"

It sure would make the templates worth while if either a shortcut key or an link
from the File | New option would allow for a mail message to be opened based on
a template.
There would need to either be some sort of chooser to selecte the appropriate
template form the default template directory, or a template could defined as
default and grabbed automatically.

This is a request for enhancement. confirming. But this will not be a priority
for now. Probably in the future.

Any idea on when there may be a feature added to improve template usability?
Right now it is quite awkward to always have to go to the templates folder and
open the template from which you would like to create a new message.

I agree that there should be some method for settin up a particular template as
your default HTML email format, particularly for new compositions.
And perhaps a "Use My Template" option in the Format menu would be useful for
those who don't want to set up a particular HTML format as a default and for
those who want to toggle over to their preferred formatting when replying to an
email.

"New Message with Template" should be on the Message menu as well as under File
- New. And it would be nice to have it accessible from a little triangle next to
the Compose button, as suggested in bug 107876 comment 5.
