Steps to reproduce:

Have a broken graphics setup - in my case a perms screw up on /dev/dri/card0
on Linux.


Actual results:

The graphics library code seg'd the glxtest.c process


Expected results:

I'd like a way to see some diagnostics from GL; bug 719164 closed all file descriptors to stop most messages, but if this is just for cleanliness then it would be good to have a way to reenable the error messages so that you can debug it.
