To use the Navigation Services APIs to customize the file dialogs requires Nav Services 2.0 which is only available in Mac OS 9. Doing this feature without using the Nav Services APIs is possible but will make for more work when localizing as there will be resources that require localization rather than just text in a dtd.

This and bug 9621 were about adapting Mozilla's cross-platform file-type filter based on the file name extension to the Mac, weren't they? That makes both these bugs one of bug 43932 or bug 107521. Closing. Correct me? Steve? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 107521 ***

Yep, this one's a dead parrot. Of course, now that Apple in their infinite wisdom have declared that file extensions are a a better system than type/creator metadata we may eventually have to change the Mac file picker code to just use extensions. But that'd be a different bug.
